As chairman of the Republican Study Committee, Pfluger unveiled a framework for a second budget bill promising $1 trillion in deficit reduction. KFF projects the last one will cost Texas 480,000 people their health coverage and $27.9 billion in federal Medicaid funding. He calls the new one 'Making the American Dream Affordable Again.'
The $50 billion rural health fund Guest is touring the district to promote was created by the same budget bill he voted for — the one KFF estimates cuts $911 billion from Medicaid, including $137 billion from rural areas. The fund covers about a third of the rural damage, and the law doesn't require the money to reach rural hospitals at all.

Joyce's one documented action was a letter to the Attorney General — seven weeks before he voted for the law taking $33 billion of Medicaid out of Ohio.
In July 2025 Capito voted for the budget bill that guts Medicaid — a 50–50 vote she could have stopped. Seven WV rural hospitals are now named at risk. On July 29, 2026, she cosponsored legislation to prevent rural hospital closures.
At an April 2025 telephone town hall closed to media questions, Fry called Medicaid vital and then said too many people are on it. He then voted twice for the cuts. SC-07 is projected to lose more health coverage than any other district in South Carolina, and an advocacy group's tally puts average ACA premiums in the state up 235%.
The budget resolution LaLota voted for on February 25, 2025 doesn't contain the word Medicaid. It orders one committee to cut $880 billion — and 93% of that committee's spending is Medicaid. Four months later he voted for the bill that made the cuts real. 21,673 people in his district are projected to lose coverage by 2034.
